Where I’ve Been the Last 2 Years

Hello everyone! I hope you’re doing well. It’s me, Leon R.M. Auguste (formally known as R.S. Noel).

Even with the mess 2020 has brought us, I’ve been busy over the last 2 years (can anyone say Covid-19 without getting a headache? I think not). But aside from such a polarizing topic, I’ve been fortunate enough to really create a life for myself over the last 2 years.

To make a long story short, I work remotely as a Financial Copywriter and Copywriter at the moment for 3 clients. I’ve also moved away from Beverly Hills, California, to Sioux Falls, South Dakota with my older brother. I never shared that I lived by myself from 2019 to mid-2020 in Beverly Hills, CA – but it was an experience I’ll likely never forget!

It should go without saying that 2020 was historical and life-changing for Californians, Americans, and everyone in the world.

But that part of my life is now behind me (thankfully), and I, fortunately and humbly, live in a quiet neighborhood in Sioux Falls, SD.

I came here to Sioux Falls on November 9th, 2020, with nothing more than the clothes on my back, my TV, both laptops, and the willpower to drive through 5 different states in my little Toyota Corolla Hatchback. It was the ride of my life, and I’ll never forget the natural splendor and wonder I experienced during my journey to escape tyranny.

Because I’ve now realized, I can no longer live a life of comforting lies.

The funny part is I’ve never lived a life of lies here on my blog. But in the real world, I did.

In the real world, pre-2020, I always played the role I thought was best for society, my parents, and even my old friends. But now, I can live a lot freer than before, and that’s come with real-world results as well.

I’m in the process of getting my poetry published as a small chapbook. Not to mention, I’m also in the process of editing a couple of short stories. Alongside that, I’m looking to get some of my work-in-progress books published one day as well.

Every beginning starts out tiny, but this time, it has been created successfully. How do I know this? For over a year now, I’ve made minor changes in my life. However, these tiny changes have helped me focus on the one thing that has always mattered in my life. And that one thing that matters to me the most is writing.

Writing has always been a fantastic outlet for many of us in the world. It is the one art form that doesn’t require us to make noise, speak, or even waste our breathe. It is the one creative outlet that allows people to come to their own conclusions on a piece of work, wondering all the while what the true intentions were from the creator.

I’m financially secure in my life (hopefully, for a long time – finger’s crossed)! As a result, I feel more able to pursue my passions in life without discourse or remorse. Ever since the beginning of 2021, even through hardships and difficulties that naturally come along with moving to a new state, I’ve been able to feel less restrained in my life. With the lack of stress that inner-city living in California brought me, I had faced depression even when I was younger.

With that aside, I want to share how much progress I’ve made both creatively and individually! It’s been such a shocking transformation that I sometimes have to stop and stare outside the window of our townhome to realize that this is all very much real.

I wake up every day, work my 3 contract copywriting jobs, and feel secure knowing that as long as I continue to hone my craft and begin to make my way through my own creative process of writing, I can do anything.

After all, my grandfather came to America back in the 1960s hoping that his children and grandchildren could make something great of themselves. And it’s my late grandfather that I do what I do in life now. His memory is the reason why I wake up every morning and make that daily prayer to God to get me through the hardships to come. To guide me through the immense darkness that awaits not only me but all of the people of this world.

It is the reason I find joy in life again.

It is the reason I once again discover secrets once untold.

I will say, I do not affiliate with any political party. In fact, I don’t even agree with our current leadership on both the national level and the global stage. I believe those people do not honestly care for the average citizen. After all, a leopard never changes its spots. The same is true for politicians, entertainers, and anyone granted access to even small positions of influence or power post-2020.

It’s all a joke, really. None of that even matters in our lives. Tragically, though, the influence and power of these sick-minded people do affect how we live.

At any rate, I’m getting ahead of myself. There are so many things I want to share in this welcoming back post, but I don’t want to spoil the fun of life all at once. Undoubtedly, just know that 2020 was the year I was waiting to begin making my mark on the annals of history forever.

And lastly, you should be aware that I’ve become more passionate about all of life once again. The same passion I once held as a younger man has been rekindled.

But this time, the flame will not simmer. This time, I will not go silently into that good night.

Forever in Your Debt,

Leon R.M. Auguste

    1. It’s amazing, especially during winter (last year). If you ever go there, prepare at least 2 days or so of time to get the most out of your experience. (Not including the time it takes you to leave your city, state or check into any hotel in Rapid City, etc.)

The whole area is absolutely stunning in its natural wonder and beauty. We’re hopefully going back next year (likely during spring or summer).

My older brother and I also saw lots of different license plates from all over the U.S. We counted at least 35 different state plates.

Also checked out Mt. Rushmore. It was a humblimg experience full of awe-inspiring moments (tour guide + theater there).
